Nov 02, 2017 — The hike McCauley Hot Springs is well-maintained trail near Jemez Springs, New Mexico. From the Battleship Picnic Area, I started along Trail 137 and passed the impressive rock outcrop called Battleship Rock. The rrail followed the East Fork of Jemez River for a short time before making a switchback and ascending through the forest. There are some nice views down the canyon, but overall it's just a pleasant woods walk. Eventually I reached McCauley Hot Springs, a sieries of pools confined with rock barriers. It's a pristine forested setting and I was happy to have the spot to myself, though apparently this hike can get fairly popular.
