Aug 05, 2015 — This loop hike starts within Great Basin National Park at the Baker Creek Trailhead. I followed the trail to Baker Lake, a well-maintained trail with ample switchbacks to keep it a nice steady grade. From Baker Lake, a social trail led to the south along the base of the ridge on the right toward a slope. The social trail continued up this slope more steeply, some rocky terrain and grasses obscuring the trail until it was no longer easily followed. At this point, I just headed up the slope to the saddle of Johnson Peak and Baker Peak, where the grassy slope turned into tundra and I was along the ridgeline. Pyramid Peak, Johnson Peak, and Baker Peak surrounded me, but their summits were not visible. I continued southeast on the wide, sloping saddle until Johnson Lake came into view below. A well-traveled social trail led me down to the lake, where I picked up the Johnson Lake Trail. After a couple of miles, the trail reaches a junction, where left leads over the Pyramid Peak ridgeline at a low point, before descending again down to the Baker Creek Trailhead.
