Jun 22, 2019 — This loop hike within the Red Canyon area of Dixie National Forest visits some of the prettiest scenery in this area, and escapes much of the crowds you'd get closer to the visitor center. I started south along the Golden Wall Trail, a pleasant hike with minimal hoodoo formations at first. I left this trail to head up the Castle Bridge Trail, a nice detour to see some prettier scenery. The Castle Bridge Trail rejoined the Golden Wall Trail. The hike continues through really nice scenery as the trail slowly makes its way to a saddle about halfway through the hike, only to drop down to the east and wander through more interesting scenery. The Golden Wall Trail led to the Buckhorn Trail, where I took a detour to get to a vista, the Buckhorn Viewpoint. I then backtracked to the junction and continued along the trail to the Red Canyon Campground. A short walk along the paved Canyon Bike Trail led to the trailhead where I started.
