Jul 29, 2018 — Boulder's popular Chautauqua Park has a lot of really nice trails. This hike summits Green Mountain by using a combination of these trails to form a loop. Tara and I headed along the Baseline Trail, took the Ampitheater Trail for a short time, then ascended the north slopes of Green Mountain via the Greenman Trail. There were lots of pretty rock outcrops and the foliage was lush. There was also an unnecessary ladder placed along the trail at a steep section. There are also normally views along the trail, but we had lots of fog. From the summit of Green Mountain we headed west down the Green - Bear Trail, which wrapped around to the south side of the mountain and wound around quite a bit. Eventually it joined the pretty Bear Canyon Trail, which led east and had more views and cool rock outcrops. We picked up the Mesa Trail and completed the loop.
