Jan 19, 2015 — Hamilton Pool is a popular destination just outside Austin, Texas. It is a part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. The short hike requires walking down on a super-developed trail and following Hamilton Creek to reach the beach on the north side of the impressive pool. From here you can see stunning stalactites around the eroded grotto on the feature's south side. It's even complete with a waterfall. Noise from an infinite number of people blocks out the otherwise relaxing water sounds, but it's still a really interesting feature worth visiting. There's a short loop around the pool. Check to make sure you can go in the water. Sometimes it's closed due to flood damage or high levels of bacteria.
