Jun 14, 2018 — After checking out the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma earlier this year, I sort of fell in love with the rocky hills you wouldn't expect to find in this part of the country. So, I decided to check out more of the area, Quartz Mountain State Park on the agenda. I kind of made a mess of the New Horizon Trail. It's not well-marked, but you can kind of just scramble up anywhere on the side of the rocky hill to get to the high point, which is what I ultimately did. If you look at my map, the left side was my ascent, which pretty nice, and then the way down was more or less the "official" New Horizon Trail. Really nice views of the surrounding Oklahoma countyside from the top.

If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
