May 01, 2019 — Silica Dome is a cool-looking rounded peak in the heart of Valley of Fire State Park. It's a popular view point, and many wander from the viewing area and up to the summit of this minor peak. I followed a dirt road leading east from the Fire Canyon/Silica Dome parking area. Once I noticed some pretty slickrock on the northern slope leading to Silica Dome's high point, I left th dirt road and headed toward it. A bit of easy Class 2 slab scrambling led to the summit, where there are some really nice views into Valley of Fire.
Please consider helping me out if you find my site useful. I'm not sponsored, so all site fees are out-of-pocket and my time preparing these trip reports is unpaid. You can also hire me as a web developer. I really appreciate it!
If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
