Jul 12, 2024 — The Silver Lake Mountain Trail offers a short hike to a nice viewpoint of the surrounding water features, Silver Lake and Taylor Pond. It's located somewhat in the middle of nowhere, but was a quick add-on to other places I was visiting today. The trail starts from a small parking lot and ascends pretty rapidly up the southwest ridge. There wasn’t much in terms of views until the top, but it was a nice forested setting. Once at the summit, I enjoyed looking toward Taylor Pond, which I was unable to see from the nearby and more popular Catamount Mountain.
