Jul 07, 2014 — I started my hike at the Sipsey River Picnic Area, where there’s plenty of parking available for a small day-use fee. The trail I chose today was the Borden Creek Trail, nestled within the beautiful Sipsey Wilderness. At the start of the hike, the trail follows along the Sipsey Fork, which is Alabama’s only designated Wild and Scenic River. It winds alongside the confluence of Borden Creek and the Sipsey Fork, passing many impressive sandstone rock formations. One of these is a feature called "Fat Man Squeeze", a tiny cave that marked the end of my hike where I turned around. The trail continues farther to an old bridge and onward, and one day maybe I'll be back to this gorgeous area.
