Jun 03, 2020 — Sitgreaves Mountain is a prominent cinder cone north of Flagstaff, and was the start to my two-day cinder cone bagging frenzy. The road out to my Sitgreaves Mountain start point was in great shape, but in order to get to my exact start coordinates, you have to turn off here: 35.37079, -112.02562 at a road that doesn't show on Google. This road leads to the coordinates attached to this trip report.
I parked at the end of the road, just before it got too steep and ended 50 feet after anyway, and then continued on foot along the ridge. There was some ribbon flagging to mark the route, but it's a straightforward hike, not leaving the ridge the whole way up. The start of the hike was quite steep, and had some nice views before trees obstructed all views, save for the occasional glance at Humphreys Peak. The summit of Sitgreaves Mountain was a small grassy bald, but heading a few hundred feet to the southeast led to a nice overlook at Humphreys Peak. I included this detour on my map, and I definitely recommend making the extra effort.
