Nov 09, 2012 — Starting at Lees Ferry, follow a pretty trail along the edge of the Colorado River before ascending steeply for two miles. It's a great experience to watch the Colorado River appear smaller the higher you go, and the top has outstanding 360 degree views of the canyon and desert. If you look closely, you can see the Horseshoe Bend crowds to the South. Somehow, this hike gave me some sort of perspective of the area's labels. Lees Ferry is the bottom-most part of Glen Canyon, which then becomes Marble Canyon, which then becomes the Grand Canyon. Marble and Grand are part of Grand Canyon National Park. Lake Powell was formed by Glen Canyon being dammed. It was nice to clear that up in my head.
