Feb 18, 2019 — Willow Beach Peak looks pretty unassuming from the highway, but the ridgelines connecting the high points in this cluster of peaks are really gorgeous, and you get some great views in all directions. Apparently there's a faster route from the south, but I didn't want to mess with rough roads, and there also seemed to be a short little canyon from the east I wanted to check out, so my write-up assumes you want the same. ;)
Head up the tiny canyon and either start up along the ridgeline that weaves its way west to Sarada Devi Peak or continue along the wash and make your way to the saddle west of Sarada Devi Peak. I chose the ridgeline to get some nicer views and scramble time. It's slow-moving, but there are a few fun sections of Class 2/3. I opted to take the wash down on the way back (both routes on map).
Sarada Devi Peak is the first of three, followed by Kenny Peak (which includes a Class 2+/3 scramble to gain), and then Willow Beach Peak. You can see Malpais Flattop Mesa for much of the hike, and the views of the Black Canyon and the Colorado River from the summit are among the best.
