Jul 03, 2016 — This hike seems to be the standard option to reach the summits of three of the Adirondack 46ers: Wright Peak, Algonquin Peak, and Iroquis Peak. The trail is very popular and parking can be a pain at Heart Lake. The hike starts along the Old Marcy Dam Trail, then heads along the Algonquin Trail as it makes its way through the forest on typical Adirondack eroded trail terrain. Along the way we passed MacIntyre Falls as well as the occasional view once we got higher up. First up was Wright Peak, which requires a short detour from the Algonquin Trail. Some Class 2 scrambling led us up some rock slabs to its summit.
Once down from Wright Peak, we continued up to Algonquin Peak, where the views were great as soon as we reached the ridgeline and were out of the forest. Some of the steeper slickrock slabs might be slippery on the way up, and there was some more Class 2 to reach Algonquin's summit. From here we continued southwest along the ridgeline over the bump known as Boundary Peak, and finally to Iroquois Peak. The views were great and the trail to reach Iroquois was a bit less rocky than much of the ascent to Algonquin. We returned the way we came, up and over Algonquin Peak.
