Jul 03, 2014 — This was my first hike in El Malpais National Monument, and the general flatness made me want to search elsewhere in the Monument. This trail definitely has lots of solitude and a great open volcanic landscape to enjoy, but I turned back after a couple of miles since it wasn't a particularly interesting hike.
