Sep 24, 2017 — Snow Canyon State Park is a nice state park that's overlooked due to its proximity to Zion National Park. This was my first hike in the area, a short and scenic loop in the lower sections of the park. There are fun peaks and a nice route along the rim of the park that I recommend if you're interested in harder objectives. You can extend this small loop I did by following Snow Canyon's great trail system. I followed the Butterfly Trail to one of the lava tubes, and continued on the Lava Tubes Trail to the West Canyon Road. I then followed this past a bathroom, briefly onto the Three Ponds Trail, and then onto the Petrified Dunes Trail. There were nice views toward the distant surrounding incredible cliffs for the hike's entirety.
