May 19, 2016 — Dark Hollow Falls is an incredibly popular waterfall hike in Shenandoah National Park that leads along a well-groomed gravel trail as it descends slowly from the trailhead through the forest. Along the way, the Dark Hollow Falls Trail parallels a pretty creek before meeting up with Hogcamp Branch, the watercourse that houses the waterfall. From here the trail wraps around the hillside to reach the base of the falls. Although a really short hike, the waterfall is worth a visit. I returned the way I came. For a much more scenic experience with enough waterfalls to overwhelm you, check out the nearby Cedar Run and Whiteoak Canyon Loop.
