Jun 28, 2016 — I followed the Sandwich Mountain Trail through pretty New Hampshire forest along the northern ridge of Sandwich Mountain. The hike is pretty much covered in trees until Noon Peak, just an bump along the ridge with a nice view. Continuing along the Sandwich Mountain Trail, the trees opened up a bit at the higher elevation and I could see the surrounding mountains. I took a short detour up to Jennings Peak, a minor peak with more great views. The rest of the hike was also forested and not particularly steep up to the summit of Sandwich Mountain.
Rather than descend the same way, about halfway back down just after passing by the turn-off for Jennings Peak, I took the Drakes Brook Trail to make a partial loop and to enjoy the very pretty Drakes Brook. Along the way there are a bunch of tiny waterfalls and lots of nice mosses on the creekbed rocks.
