Jun 15, 2018 — Natural Falls State Park is a popular area with some gorgeous features, so I was sure to get here early to avoid crowds. The area has a small web of trails and I wanted to check out the coolest stuff, so note my attached map might not look particularly straightforward. I recommend just wandering the good trail system in order to see everything.
First I wanted to see the featured Dripping Spring Falls, which required a short hike on a paved trail and then only a quick walk down an overdeveloped boardwalk/stair system. The falls cascade over a pretty grotto feature. I continued from Dripping Spring Falls to the Fox Den Trail, passing over a nice bridge over a pretty little pond to get to an area with sandstone bluffs on the side of a dry creek. I accidentally went off trail and ended up just wandering a bit (see dotted line on map), but returned on the Bear Trail to make this a sort of loop. Like I said, it's a short enough hike to choose your own adventure and take the trail system to see everything you can.
