Jun 15, 2018 — Lincoln Lake seems like more of a locals destination to take boats out on the water, but I was interested in hiking a loop around the lake's perimeter. This ended up being a nice walk through the forest with hints of views toward Lincoln Lake through its duration. I followed the Lake Loop Trail going counter-clockwise and enjoyed the pretty cliff overlooks, but the sandstone bluffs near the lake's edge are really cool and the trail sort of avoids them for some reason, a bit of a bummer. About 1/3 into the hike I passed Eagly View, a name overlook. There is a short shoot-off trail called the Lower Eagle View Trail (see map) that really doesn't go anywhere or do anything, except to pass a few sandstone bluffs with bolts used for climbing on them. The Lake Loop Trail then wraps around the south side of Lincoln Lake into a more forested and slightly more marshy landscape before circling around to the north side where it crosses over a dam, the best views of the hike toward the lake and its cliffy faces.
