Sep 08, 2018 — I was wrong. A couple of days ago, I thought I finished my Wasatch 11ers, but forgot about Mt. Baldy, this dumb mountain covered in ski lifts. So, despire having done Sugarloaf Mountain and Devil's Castle a year ago (a skip away from Mt. Baldy), I had to return to bag my true last 11er.
Alta Ski Company charges money to drive the extra mile or so to the Albion Basin Trailhead since apparently their absurdly high winter prices aren't enough to cover the road maintenance, and simply covering the hiker fee to compensate for their ski lift eyesores and torn-up mountain slopes is too much to ask. So, just park in the free lot where the Albion Grill is, and hike a wide/road trail up to Cecret Lake to save the money and add some elevation gain to your day. The route doesn't officially go up Cecret Lake, but a short jump-over from the ski road takes you to the Cecret Lake Trail (specified on map), which you then follow to the saddle of Mt. Baldy and Sugarloaf Peak. There's a mini section of Class 2 to gain the summit of Mt. Baldy.

If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
