Mar 09, 2018 — Starting from Catalina State Park, follow the flat and wide enough to be an interstate Romero Canyon Trail. The trail hits Montrose Pools, which had water at the time I visited. From here, the trail becomes significantly narrower and steep and follows a really pretty Santa Catalina Mountains landscape over a hill and back down to some flowing water. Many people seem to stop here for some reason. Locate the Romero Canyon Trail on the opposite side of the easily crossed creek and continue onward until you get to the true Romero Pools. If you follow the creek rather than the trail, you'll see lots of interesting water-carved formations and mini waterfalls. The Romero Canyon Trail continues past the Romero Pools, but it seems like most of the cool rocks stop here.
Please consider helping me out if you find my site useful. I'm not sponsored, so all site fees are out-of-pocket and my time preparing these trip reports is unpaid. You can also hire me as a web developer. I really appreciate it!
If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
If using PayPal, please select their option for "Sending to a friend" so they don't take out fees, thank you.
