May 17, 2020 — The Seaman Range High Point was an unexpectedly fun peak in central Nevada. Navigate to here (37.95023, -115.09628) in pretty much any car, and then a mid-clearance vehicle could make it to the marked trailhead on my trip report. A road converted to a trail leads past a sign-in kiosk and onward north toward a cliffy hill. I kept left around this hill and Seaman Range High Point came into view. I headed as directly to the major drainage coming down the peak's southern face as I could, some minor ups and downs and the occasional tree-dodging keeping my heart rate up. Once in the drainage, I was immediately shaded by tree cover. Class 2 moves to ascend some colorful rocks within the drainage excited me, and soon the forested bit opened up to a wide and long talus field. 800+ vertical feet of Class 2 rock-hopping brought me to the east ridge of Seaman Range High Point. What a fun and physical ascent the boulder field was, especially since the talus was mostly pretty solid.
I followed the ridge to the summit, locating a Class 2 option by wrapping around the north side of the summit block. Class 3 option if you approach directly from the east. I thought the views were pretty nice, but the highlight of the peak was the boulder field, in my opinion.
