Apr 03, 2014 — This trail through Congaree National Park brings you through old growth bottomland hardwood forest with lots of swampy cedar streams. Reminiscent of the Deep South's bayou, but with earth packed enough for hiking, the interesting roots of the hardwood trees and gorgeous swampland biodiversity can be seen while not getting wet. This trail was my first hike of 2014, when I really got into road tripping. Being in a unique landscape really helped me rekindle the feeling I was trying to find that I sort of lost since my first road trip in 2012.
Please consider helping me out if you find my site useful. I'm not sponsored, so all site fees are out-of-pocket and my time preparing these trip reports is unpaid. You can also hire me as a web developer. I really appreciate it!
If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
