Mar 15, 2019 — A long drive on a reasonable dirt road leads to the north side of Gass Peak. The views of Gass Peak from Las Vegas make it appear much larger than it does from the trailhead, but I wasn't excited enough about this peak to go at it from the south with all its additional elevation gain and desert slogging. Anyway, from the trailhead, follow a dirt road for a while up a northern slope that turns into a fairly well defined trail. The traill leads up to the ridgeline and follows it west to the summit. There are some great views of Las Vegas nestled in its large desert space that made me have my regular meta feelings about society, city sprawl, and human relationships with the desert.
Please consider helping me out if you find my site useful. I'm not sponsored, so all site fees are out-of-pocket and my time preparing these trip reports is unpaid. You can also hire me as a web developer. I really appreciate it!
If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
