Jun 23, 2018 — Bad Branch Falls is a beautiful waterfall just over Virginia's border into Kentucky. The trail heads along a creek called Bad Branch, a series of bridges crossing the creek as the trail slowly ascends. After reaching a junction with the High Rock Loop, head right and ascend some stairs, then descend to reach Bad Branch Falls. The trail is easy to follow the whole time.
I recommend continuing along the trail and doing the High Rock Loop extension. Not realizing it at the time, the trail closes at dusk and this addition would have taken me too long. I also saw a bear at Bad Branch Falls, so I was a little anxious to get out of the area anyway.
Please consider helping me out if you find my site useful. I'm not sponsored, so all site fees are out-of-pocket and my time preparing these trip reports is unpaid. You can also hire me as a web developer. I really appreciate it!
If you find my site helpful, please help me replace my many broken cameras, fund my website fees (hosting, APIs, security), or just support my countless hours of work. I pay for all expenses myself, and all trip reports I post are unpaid and unsponsored, so any support is really appreciated!
