May 25, 2015 — Cedar Bluff State Park is a surprisingly cool little destination in Kansas. I wanted to primarily check out the bluffs that overlook the Cedar Bluff Reservoir, but I couldn't justify the big drive just for the overlook. Fortunately, nearby there is a maintained trail called the Agave Ridge Trail. The trailhead button above links to the Cedar Bluffs Overlook because that's sort of the featured spot, but you can refer to these coordinates for their corresponding trailheads.
Cedar Bluff Overlook: 38.7759, -99.80996
Agave Ridge Trail: 38.77698, -99.786825
I started out at the bluff overlook, and used a social trail to descend below them to the shoreline of the Reservoir. While Cedar Bluff wasn't really much of a hike, it was a relaxing, unexpected, and interesting spot.
I drove to the Agave Ridge Trailhead, which begins as a small 1-mile loop, but extends roughly an additional 4 miles to form a much larger loop through the prairie.
