Jul 23, 2019 — Naomi Peak is a very prominent mountain north of the busy Salt Lake Valley. It's a pretty popular area, and rightfully so. Tony Grove Campground is located at the end of the paved road and features a pretty alpine lake, which requires no effort to see. Hence the crowds. I started from White Pine Creek Trailhead and took the obvious and well-marked trail to the summit of Naomi Peak. The grassy ground was strewn with pretty white boulders, and aside from a couple of steeper sections it's a really pleasant hike. I reached the saddle on Naomi Peak's northeast side where the views got very pretty to the north, and then I continued southwest along the trail to the summit. I was going to continue north to Cherry Peak to add a few miles to the day, but my shin hurt and I later found I had a small fracture.
